Carr & Tejada
Americana | Folk Rock | Country
Bill Carr and Dan Tejada are an acoustic guitar duo playing original songs that draw from the roots of today's Americana revival.
Those roots run deep, as both gentlemen grew up with music and performance in the family. Bill is a third generation musician with his dad having played keyboards in various bands dating back to the 1960s, and his grandparents having performed with a traveling Vaudeville show. Dan comes from a large family of musicians as well, learning guitar from his dad back in Hawaii before joining an assortment of bands here in the Midwest playing everything from Rock and Country, to Bluegrass.
Aside from good musical genetics, Bill and Dan have a deep chemistry that serves the songs and keeps the music real. The duo is able to connect with audiences because of their authenticity and smoothness, traits that come through whether they are playing originals or covering a variety of songs from multiple genres and decades.
The mix of Bill's cowboy rhythm guitar playing with Dan's Hawaiian slack-key and blues guitar licks provides the perfect accompaniment for Bill's highly personable and melodic vocals. The style they have blended together they like to call "Shawnee Americana," and enjoy sharing it with audiences all over Southern Illinois.
